Comprehensive Help

Help Menu
From the Main Menu you can access our Help Menu. We offer in-depth Flash Video Tutorials (which walk you through each area of the program). We also have an “Upgrade Check” which will let you know if you are running the most current version of the program. A direct link to our Live Chat allows you to instantly correspond with an eduware representative online (during normal work hours).

Flash Video Tutorials Menu
Our Flash Video Tutorials showcase all aspects of the program to get you started. With a voice-over narrated video you can learn how to master the program by following along!

Flash Video Playback
Here is a still from the video showcasing how to select your questions for a “Question Wall Activity”. At the bottom of the screen is a progress bar that you can use to pause, rewind, or fast forward the video.

The Virtual Wand
If you are not familiar with our Wands or are using the software in “Mouse & Keyboard” mode, we offer a “virtual wand” to allow you to gain experience with the remote environment. This wand will appear on-screen and allows you to represent student remotes as well as a teacher remote during activities. It is fully functional and with an easy-to-hide feature never gets in the way. You will notice the Virtual Wand in some of our screenshots.

Wand Key Guide
While your activities are in progress you can always use the “?” button on your teacher remote to bring up the “In-Progress, Help Menu”. Here you can access a quick “Wand Guide” that will tell you what each key will do during this activity.

Getting Started

Select a Subject Area
The EduGame! allows your school to install multiple Subject Areas (ie. Science, Math, History, English, World Languages) into one directory for easy access.

Select a Course
Once you have chosen a Subject Area you will then be asked to choose your course (ie. Biology, Earth Science, etc.).

Main Menu
On the Main Menu you will have the option to view your Gradebook, set some options, start an activity, or view our comprehensive help menu.

Settings
Here you can access our Wands setup, as well as create user accounts and set default activity options.

Default Options
Here you can set the way you want your activities to start-up each time. Set music, sound effects, and reading, on or off, choose your answer prefix (numeric or alpha) as well as which token-set you would like to use as your default. You can also access our Color Scheme Editor from this screen.

User Accounts
When working in a school environment you may wish to enable user accounts. This would allow administrators to give teachers privileges to their subject area and classes only.

Start an Activity
Choose from one of three Activities, Question Wall, Polling or Testing. You will then have the option to create a new activity, open or resume an existing activity.

Saving an Activity
After creating an activity you may be prompted to Save your activity. You can save a file to disk and/or to a special database file that is kept within the program.

Printing an Activity
After creating an activity you will have the option to make a print-out (hard-copy) of your activity. For Question Wall Activites your category header and point values will be printed up for each question. Polling and Testing Activities print out in a standard “Test” format with options for formatting and headers & footers.

Gradebook

Gradebook Overview
Easily import your class roster or import existing data from Excel. Once your students are entered you can then keep track of each individuals progress. You can add as many classes to the Gradebook as you like. Once you run your activities you will be able to view your data as well as analyze it with multiple reporting options.

Import Student Data from Excel
If you have pre-existing student records in Excel format they can be imported into the Gradebook. You can select which fields represent your student data for import (first name, last name, etc.)

Export Student Data to Excel
At any time you can export your class gradebook information back to Excel for alternate analysis of results.

Works with AppersonTM Scanners
You can import data from your Apperson AdvantageTM Scanners, providing you a reliable link between testing and electronic data storage and reporting.

Print Reports & See Results
Create your reports on-screen to your exact specifications and then print out correlating reports to easily compare and contrast data sheets. View Sample Pages.

Session Results
You can view “numbers” for your students or your class as a whole for an individual session or for multiple sessions in a term. Here you can see what answer choice each student chose for an exam.

Category Reporting
In the reporting suite you can filter your data to find out exactly what you need to know to pinpoint troubled spots in learning. You can sort your data by Student, by Topic, by a Time-Period, by a Class or All Classes.

Category Reporting w/ State Standards
Whenever you have access to Category selection or filtering, any installed state-standard classifications will also be available. You can specify which topics (broad or direct) to examine.

Grade Distribution
Print color or grayscale charts showing the distribution of your grades.

Question Selection & Editing

Creating or Editing Questions
You can easily modify any existing question in our libraries or add a new question of your own. You can add a description, a media item (image, video, sound, or flash), and choose whether it is multiple choice, short answer or true false.

Answer Pictures
The EduGame! now supports adding images as your answer choices for students to select.

Family Tree Classification
All of our question libraries are classified in an easy to use “Tree” so you can browse through our Units, Chapters, Topics and Subtopics to find questions you are looking for. You can also classify your own questions to our standards or your state-standards (if available).

Search Function
In addition to browsing our subject libraries by our Family Tree you can also use our powerful Search feature to quickly locate keywords in questions. With Advanced search you can pinpoint precisely what you are looking for in either the question or answer fields.
